An exciting new musical exchange project from Carn to Cove

An exciting new musical exchange project from Carn to Cove

Carn to Cove are organising the first meeting of a new 12 month project that we are launching in collaboration with a Romanian partner, Music Hub, called the Transylvania Kernow Music Lab (TK Music Lab)

Carn to Cove have won a pilot award from the British Council’s International Collaboration grant to work with a young team of musicians active in bringing young people together to talk, work and rehearse music in Sibui, Romania.

They would like to invite young people between the ages of 16-30, from all across Cornwall, who sing or play any type of musical instrument, and who want to experience, exchange, and collaborate musically - to join with other young and professional musicians from Romania.

The project will involve online shared meetings, exchanges and performances (starting on 3rd May), the co-creation of a new piece of music, and finally a visit from the Romanian group in March 2023 to meet us and share musical and lyrical experiences. The project will be documented by the production and publication of a zine, (and anyone who is interested in design and content creation is very welcome to join us).

If you would like to find out more then there will be an online meeting on 28th April, at 6pm, where they will tell you more about what they have planned over the next 12 months. To sign up and find out more click the button below.

The Radford Charitable Trust Musician Grant

The Radford Charitable Trust Musician Grant

The Radford Charitable Trust has once again opened up funding for young musicians to receive music lessons in Cornwall during these trying times.

The Radford Charitable Trust (RTC) set aside some funds to help families facing hardship at the start of the Covid pandemic and this fund helped many families pay for a term of music lessons who otherwise might have had to stop for a while or even give up their vocal/instrumental lessons completely.

The RTC has very kindly agreed to allocate a further emergency grant to help families who may now be facing challenges due to the ever increasing cost of living. This will be a one off grant to pay for a term of 12 lessons.

CMST will be administering the funds, but the grant is available to any young person learning an instrument or having vocal lessons throughout Cornwall, either taught through CMST or having lessons with a private teacher.

To apply for the chance click the button below and fill in the form which follows.
